    About this item

Introducing the James Butler MBE RA (1931-2022) Large Bronze of St Peter & St Paul, a magnificent sculpture cast for York Minster. This limited edition piece stands at an impressive 56cms high and depicts St Peter holding keys in one hand and a Church in the other, while St Paul holds a sword and book. The sculpture was specifically designed as a roof boss for the lantern tower as part of the repairs following the fire in 1984, The Cathedral commissioned James Butler to create the sculpture, he created 6 pieces from the cast he sculptured, all with slightly different finishes, York Mister chose the one they preferred and the other 5 are a limited run that was then sold off from his studio and are out there in the open market of which this is one.

Please note, latter images are of the sculpture in situ at York Minster as the roof boss in the Lantern Tower

This exquisite piece is a testament to the skill and artistry of James Butler, a renowned artist and recipient of the MBE. It is a must-have for collectors and art enthusiasts alike.
