About this item
Rare and very large festival/tent banner, 450cm x 42cm (177 x 16.5 inches). Hand embroidered in vibrant pinks and greens on a beautiful Saffron ground. Gujurat, circa 1940.
The pennants, stitched together from recycled sari's, have been carefully colour matched, utilising a limited and very soft palette that compliments the embroidered top panel superbly. The reverse lining is also well chosen, a deep pinky red with a simple repeat, almost polka dot pattern, which works well with the front if draped rather than simply hung straight. Overall, a really well considered and highly decorative example.
Condition is excellent, clean and bright. All the original hanging loops are present. There are losses to the embroidery throughout the length, thinning to trim on the top edge.
UK Mainland shipping is £15 by standard parcel courier. Please contact for international shipping quote.
