A small but very impactful abstract modernist oil composition, painted onto board.
Although very much abstract, the painting is reminiscent of the qualities of water – its flowing nature, its sparkling and dappled reflections, and even its undercurrents. This interpretation is of course subjective but at its very essence, the composition captures a feeling of motion, transience and dynamism. The artist juxtaposes broad sweeping brushwork with much more controlled and defined dots of paint. The palette of colours interplay wonderfully with each other, encouraging our eyes to move in different directions and explore different areas of the composition.
This oil on board is housed in a very attractive wood frame with an inner linen lined border. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
