About this item
A beautiful, substantial, solid wood wedding basket from the region south of Chinese Yangzi river. The basket is formed by holding hand cut and shaped wood panels in perfect tension by solid bronze rings, using no nails or glues. A yin yang Zen motif decorates the top symbolizing great harmony, above a pair of solid candles flanking the body of the bucket. The basket's wonderful curvaceous shape enhances its beauty. Such a basket is an important accessory used in Chinese weddings. It is always filled with peanuts, pomegranates, dates and other auspicious foods to symbolize prosperity and fertility.
