About this item
A decorative, original, reclaimed early Victorian cast iron fire trim. The fire trim has a very elegant design with pretty acanthus leaves on either side of the cross bar, above the arched fire opening. The opening has a concave border around it. The cast iron has been blacked and polished and has a good colour and finish. The back of the fire trim has a registered design kite mark that dates the trim to July 1846. The trim is designed to fit around a fireplace opening with a wood burner or fire basket. The fire trim is in good antique condition with some signs of age and use, as expected. The fire trim has some small knocks, pitting and casting marks and there are some indentations and small holes. The back has some surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire trim is a lovely example of Victorian design and its attractive and refined appearance would make a beautiful period feature for a fireplace.
Please note: we have a trim of the same design available for sale. Please see our reference FT0030 for details.
