This is an ancient Roman silver denarius of emperor Septimius Severus, minted in Rome between 197 - 198 AD.
Obverse: L SEPT SEV PERT AVG IMP X "Lucius Septimius Severus Pertinax, emperor (Augustus), supreme commander (Imperator) for the tenth time." laureate head right.
Reverse: P M TR P V COS II P P, "High priest, holder of tribunician power for the sixth time, consul for the second time, father of the nation." Genius standing left, sacrificing out of patera over altar holding corn ears
