About this item
Born in Bradford, Yorkshire in 1868, Rigg studied at Bradford College of Art then at the renowned Académie Julian, in Paris. His attractive open air scenes were in the manner of French late nineteenth century painting. He exhibited at RA, RBA, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and elsewhere, working in many parts of England. He was a prominent member of the Staithes Group and later lived for a time in Letchworth, Hertfordshire.
"The Bluebell Wood" or "In Shipley Glen" is an oil painting on canvas measuring 10"x 14". It is unsigned and is framed giving an overall size of 16"x 20". Provenance: family of the artist.
