Cheltenham Races By Michael Lyne C1950

Circa 1950 action packed and high quality water colour by the well listed artist Michael Lyne in superb condition. The painting retains the original backing board with purchase label from Cheltenham. We believe this is a scene is from the Cheltenham Race Course.

Michael Lyne was born in Upton Bishop in Herefordshire and studied at the Cheltenham School of Art. A painter of mainly sporting, equestrian, subjects and hunting scenes in both oil and watercolours. He illustrated many books and also wrote and illustrated Horses, Hounds and Country (1938). Michael Lyne exhibited in London but lived for much of his life in Cheltenham.
