This is an antique optometrist's skiascope rack. A French, ebony and glass optical instrument, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Fascinating instrument following the mid 19th century H. Parent principle. Displays a desirable aged patina throughout. Tactile ebony body presents dark hues with shaped edges. Twenty four glass diopters, each in very good order. Each rack with a plus or minus magnification from 0.50 to 10. Maker's marks to either side of handle for Giroux of Paris
This is a superb antique optometrists skiascope rack, offering fascination for collectors of ophthalmic interest. Delivered ready to display.
