Rair of Derby figures of The Welch Tailor & Family after the Meissen originals. Both marked model number 62. 19th Century Derby figures of the Welch Tailor and his Wife, both astride goats, she with three babes; one in arms, two in a basket, he with two kids in a pannier, his cobalt blue coat with gilt highlights, her skirt similar, both on green naturalistic bases with foliate scrolls, stamped to undersides, the wife's underside incised "N62" & "large" in script (2) Further details: Tailor: 24cm high x 18cm at widest point
Condition dodgy but very very dusty as on a mantlepiece since the 90's. Right now the bad bits old restoration :- goats ear, tail. horn both basket handles one basket done by a blind bat in mittens. Him Goats tail, horn etc all indicated with fetching pink arrows. Could be lived with as is due to the gilding etc being good and still a pair. Priced for a dealer as near to auction etc
