FS0484 A RECLAIMED SLATE FIRE SURROUND FOR PROJECT

A reclaimed slate surround for a project. The surround currently has a simple design and is missing the original mantel and corbels. You could use the surround as it is, as a simple surround for a fire or wood burner but you may wish to do some cosmetic refurbishment or you can make the surround into a project and two slate corbels and a slate slab for making into a mantel will be provided with the surround. You would need to cut the slab to size to make a mantel. The old corbels have left marks on the top of the legs that could be partially covered if you use the corbels provided (see the last 2 pictures for details of the slab and new corbel).

The surround is in solid condition but has signs of age and wear and is for a project. The surround has a chip in one side of the crossbar. The original corbels are missing and there is a shadow and two holes where they sat. The surround has some small knocks and chips, mainly to the edges and where the pieces join. The back of the crossbar has two cut outs from where it was originally fitted to the wall. The slate has some scratches and the finish has some marks. There is some residue plaster in places. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround is a good reclaimed item and ideal for making into a project to suit your requirements.
