    About this item

Superb set of four large smoker's bow armchairs in oak c.1890. Low backrests carved with a shield and scrolling acanthus, bow shaped arms raised on curving slats and front supports swept backwards to allow the chair to be drawn up to a table or desk. Generously proportioned seats carved from 2" thick single piece oak boards. Raised on crisply turned legs front and rear, splayed for stability and joined with turned double H stretchers for strength. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
