A wonderful Victorian gothic revival oak throne chair, c.1880.
The chair is well proportioned at well over a metre tall, with a heraldic crest finial above a carved fluted and leather back rest and seat with carved apron. Carved armrests depict foliate detail and terminate in lion masks. The whole is raised upon turned legs united by an 'H' stretcher.
The leather upholstery is later and as such is in a very good condition. There is evidence of a historic repair to the outside edge of the right armrest (please see photographs). There are some small knocks and signs of wear commensurate with age in areas but generally the chair remains in a very good condition throughout.
