Fine antique Georgian padouk tea caddy, the raised top with elaborate crosscut ogee mouldings, rococo bale handle with pierced and engraved backplate and a pair of brass stop hinges. The interior with two divisions to form three compartments for caddies. Stands upon cast brass paw feet with elaborate brass engraved corner mounts. Well figured and patinated. Padouk is an oriental hardwood of the rosewood family and used by English cabinet makers for fine quality items since the early 18th century.
