About this item
A beautiful Victorian paste brooch in the shape of a crescent moon, dating to about the 1860s. Although this brooch is not made out of precious materials it is quite exquisite. 15 pairs of graduated cut paste stones are beautifully set in a brass crescent with a closed back. The pin and safety chain are intact. Crescent moons were a popular motif in Victorian jewellery, often given to young ladies by their fiancés to indicate a desire for marriage - the symbolic crescent moon would be made full by marriage.
This piece is in beautiful original condition.
