    About this item

A 19th century, beechwood breadboard carved with the words “Bread the Staff of Life”. This is one of the more unusual mottos to find and it dates from c.1860. The board has an interesting patina which displays extensive flecking in the grain of the wood. Often breadboards were turned over and used on the reverse, so as not to affect the design too much, and this has cut marks to both the face and the reverse, showing extensive use. It has a short crack to the rim but otherwise it is in good condition.

    Dimensions: Diameter 29.8cm. Depth 1.8cm.

Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
