About this item
A well carved, Victorian sycamore breadboard dating from c.1860. This board is carved with a bundle of wheat, leaves and berries, and the word ‘Welcome’. The carving would, originally have been very deep, but it is now slightly worn, with use. There is also scratching to the centre of the board and there is some chipping to the narrow, raised rim which surrounds the carved border. The wood has an attractive, pale patina.
