Wedgwood Majolica Part Service

A Wedgwood majolica, part dessert service comprising four plates and a comport. Each pierce is marked “WEDGWOOD” and they are also impressed with a three letter date code. The plates are all marked “NOL” which is the date code for 1886 and the comports are marked “PUL” which is the code for the same year as it is the final letter which signifies the year of manufacture. They are also marked with a pattern number ‘3271’ in red enamel. They are all moulded with flowers within six panels and the design is highlighted with polychrome majolica glazes. The colours are quite unusual for Wedgwood majolica and the overall effect is quite charming. One of the comports has two, long hairline cracks but the other pieces are all in very good condition although there is slight staining to the reverse of two of the plates.
