About this item
This is a truly superb Georgian satinwood antique bookcase of small proportions made from the finest cuts of Satinwood on a mahogany carcass with fine detailed Anthemion motifs in Ebony interspersed with Boxwood flutes to the cornice. Unusual design of glazing bars ….. rarely seen. Flanking the top and bottom doors are pilasters with marquetry inlays of shells and husks in boxwood and dyed sycamore which still retain the slightest green hue. The bottom doors have magnificent oval fan motifs.
Most leading edges are strung with Ebony, the edges of all doors veneered in Satinwood too.
The top section has three shelves which are fully adjustable, lined in a patterned silk.
A most attractive bookcase indeed.
