    About this item

A well-presented early 19th century antique Welsh oak two stage bureau bookcase with glazed top. The antique oak bureau bookcase has two panelled glass cupboard doors to the top, which open to reveal a shelved interior. To the base of the antique oak bureau is a fall front that opens to reveal a fitted interior, with beautiful inlay to each drawer and section. Below the fall front are two short dummy drawers, over three long drawers, each with brass handles. Raised on bracket feet.

    CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks, scratches and stains to the interior, fall front and drawers (pictured). There are shrinkage splits and splits to both sides (pictured), also minor repairs to the fall front (pictured). There is evidence of historical woodworm which has caused some losses to the top and back, however this is now long gone and has been fully treated as a precaution. There are two cracks to the glass panels and some minor scratches, however this doesn’t affect the integrity of the piece. The antique oak bureau bookcase remains structurally solid and sound. Comes apart in two sections for ease of transport.
