About this item
Mahogany whatnot, or bedside table
A low two tier whatnot with turned supports and legs, a single drawer with ebonised handles, stands on brass castors
British, circa 1840
Condition: It has been polished and is presented in excellent condition ready to use. The top has a ring mark and other signs of use, there are two joins in the timber of the top, the lower shelf has a repaired crack on the left front edge, the two ebonised handles are similar but not an exact pair. The back of this piece of furniture has not been polished so it is designed to stand against a wall rather than in the middle of a room.
