About this item
A small, 19th century, copper egg whisking bowl. These round bottomed bowls were used for whisking eggs. They were never tinned as the white of an egg reacts with the copper and the result is a lighter, fluffier meringue. This is a particularly small example which would be ideally suited to everyday use in a household kitchen. It is well made, from a very heavy gauge of copper, and it dates from c.1890. It is in excellent condition. The initials ‘B.M’ are lightly engraved on the handle fitting. These would have been the initials of a previous owner.
