A Very Attractive Cigar Band Decoupage Plate
Approximately 60 Cigar Bands Applied in Geometric Circle

25.5 cm in diameter
A very attractive and neatly completed geometric cigar band decoupage plate with 60 "Irving" cigar band applied to the pottery (at one stage the cigar brand had a tie-in with legendary actor Sir Henry Irving). The plate beneath is a New Hall, Hanley, Staffs plate dating to the 1930's.
A type of 'tobacciana' folk-art decoration which was popular in the early 20th Century. Would now make a fascinating wall decoration for a country house billiards or games room.
