About this item
A rare George III silver gilt snuff box by Joseph Wilmore of Birmingham 1814. The cast top depicts Achilles remonstrating with Agamemnon over Brisies. The box has the base and sides covered with cast gilt basket weaving. The interior has original gilt with a full set of hallmarks. The 9 part hinge is tight and the lid closes crisply. The gilding shows some signs of wear around the high points. A similar box is in the lion collection, see the details below. This is a very good quality box.
