A rare George III silver gilt table snuff box. Alex. Strachan 1812
An exceptional George III silver gilt snuff box depicting a tavern scene. The scene is similar to many tavern scene paintings by David Teniers the Younger (1610 - 1690). The cast top is in incredible condition with only minimal wear to the gilding and the high points. The sides and base are engine turned. The interior is gilded with hallmarks on the top and base. The 11 part hinge is tight and the lid fits very well. This really is a stunning box.
