You are viewing a gorgeous antique Italian book design casket, from Sorrento, famous for it's use of olive wood and inlaid decoration. It features a hand painted floral design and has a tunbridge ware marquetry edge to the lid which opens to reveal a red felt interior.
The lower book spine slides back to allow acess to a secret compartment.
It is in excellent condition and dates from around 1920. This will make a gorgeous and useful addition to your living room.
