About this item
A really fine example of a mid 18thc cast tobacco jar....unusual to be made from "bell" metal and of a pleasing shape, I particularly like the "cupids bow" shaped base and the way the lid has eight sides with the bold round finial on top....underneath it is pleasing to see the core mark, where the metal was poured into the mould...excellent condition with a good colour.
English. C1760-80.
