About this item
A very sturdy portable steel strong box or fire box, probably made in France in the early 20th century. It was made to hold valuable items such as money, jewellery or important documents, protecting them from theft or fire. It is made out of sturdy steel plates and is very strong. It has an attractive hinged handle to the top. The lid opens with a sturdy hinge that extends along the whole length of the box. The inside is painted a dark red.
The box comes with its original key and the locking mechanism is still fully functional. To unlock, the key is turned clockwise twice. The box is locked by pushing the lid down with no need to turn the key.
There is a little wear to the paint inside the lid of the box.
