    About this item

    Tramp art is a style of woodworking which emerged in America during the latter part of the nineteenth century.

    This particular sewing box has a multi layered chip carved exterior with pin cushion and a decorative cartouche. The interior has a removeable two compartment tray lined with floral paper and has a typical constructed based around an old cigar case as was the common choice of the day. This box dates to c1910 and is of German origin.

    Condition commensurate with age and use. Some losses to the exterior carvings but in good solid condition.
