About this item
A very sweet little silver hinged pill box or small snuff box with serpentine shaped front and sides. Embossed decoration to the sides of scrolls and arabesques and a landscape scene of a pair of young lovers on the cover with a gentleman presenting his sweetheart with a bunch of flowers. Gilded inside. Most likely Dutch, with a full set of English import hallmarks to the base and inside the cover for London 1903, importer Singleton, Benda & Co. Ltd.
It measures 4cm (1 1/2") wide, 2.5cm (1") deep and 1.5cm (9/16") high. It weighs 20g / 0.6ozt.
In very good condition with no damage or repair. The cover scene is slightly rubbed at the high points but still clear to see. The hinge is fine, marks are clear and the gilt wash is lovely and bright.
