About this item
A pretty 18th century German style silver sugar box of bombe type with serpentine shaped fluted walls and cover. Shaped thumb piece to the front of the cover and set on a stepped collet base ring with four cabriole paw shaped feet. An attractive family crest engraved to the top of a rampant lion holding a sun in his paws above the motto "In Solo Deo Salus" (in God alone is our salvation). Hallmarked to the reverse and inside the cover for London 1925, makers The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company Ltd and retailed by them, a further retailer mark to the base.
It measures 9cm (3 1/2") high, 14cm (5 1/2") wide and 10.2cm (4") deep. It weighs a substantial 259g / 8.3ozt.
In excellent condition; no damage, dents or repairs and nice and clean inside.
