    About this item

An attractive Japanese lacquerware box, dating to approximately the 1920s. This piece is made out of papier-mâché with rich decoration to the top. It was made for the export market and there are the remains of an old paper label to the base. It was probably intended as a powder pot for a lady's dressing table.
