About this item
A large wooden egg crate dating to the early 20th century, and made to transport eggs on the railways. It is simply made of wooden planks with wire reinforcement round the sides. It has a hinged lid with a hinged handle to the top and a hasp fastener to the front. The lid and sides are marked 'Eggs' and the front bears the initials 'WCB', presumably the trading company responsibly for supplying the eggs. The crate is in good condition with wear commensurate with its age.
This crate is useful for storage and is a great decorative piece.
