About this item
An early to mid 20th century Norwegian bent wood box, known as a tine or tina. These traditional boxes were produced in Norway and Sweden and were often used for storage of food. This one has the usual closing posts at the ends and a bent birch wood handle. It has Rosemaling handpainted decoration in the Viksdal style, originating from the Sogn area of Norway. The interior and base are painted with a black marbled effect.
