About this item
A very fine salt glazed Grès de Beauvais tobacco jar, made in France in the early 19th century. It is made of stoneware with applied sprig decoration of flower heads and sprays against an impressed diamond patterned ground. It is covered with a rich brown salt glaze. This handsome jar has very crisp detailing to the sprigging. It is in very good condition with minor wear commensurate with its age.
