    About this item

A nineteenth century, steel and brass milliners iron. This type of iron was used for making decorations for hats in lace or felt. The fabric was washed and starched and put into the brass section. The steel iron was heated and then put onto the fabric and pushed into the brass section. The edge would then be trimmed leaving you with the flower or leaf shape. This is quite a large example and it is an unusual flower shape which resembles a dinosaurs foot. It dates from c.1880. It is in very good condition but there is a split in the turned wooden handle.

Dimensions overall: Length 22.5cm. Width 8.6cm. Depth 5.4cm.

Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £30. Most of Western Europe add £15.
