About this item

A brass milliners iron in the shape of a leaf. This type of iron was used for making felt or lace shapes for ornamenting hats. The fabric was washed and starched and laid across the brass mould section. The brass follower was heated, and pressed into the mould. The fabric was then trimmed, leaving a perfectly shaped flower. Both sections of this example are marked with a number “1218” alongside a separate “1". It has a turned, wooden handle and it dates from c.1910. There is a crack in the wooden handle but otherwise it is in good condition.

Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
