About this item
A beautifully carved, large, French wooden tray. Carved from walnut, this has a raised border which, at the ends, is entwined with grapes and vines. At one end, on one of the vine leaves, a lizard watches a fly. The carving is extremely well done, with excellent detail, and the piece dates from c.1930. There is a short, captive crack to the centre of the tray but otherwise it is in very good condition. The crack is more noticeable on the top than on the underside, and it would not affect the strength of the tray when in use.
