    About this item

A very good quality large Benares brass tray, made in India in the late 19th century. It is substantially made and finely decorated. The surface is covered with dense chased and punched patterning of Indian deities, dancing girls and numerous animals, set in concentric bands round a central floral motif. The brass has an attractive burnished and aged patina. An excellent example of its kind.
