A very fine bronze bust of Penthesilea by Pierre Eugene Emile Herbert 1823 to 1893 he studied with his father and with Jean Jacques Fenchere he particpated in the Salon De Paris and the Exposition Universell in Paris 1855. He created the Allegorical Statues La Comedie and Drame for the Vaudeville Theatre in Paris and was one of the few sculptors to work with renowned bronze founder Georges Servant. This bronze was retailed by Tiffanys with a Taffiny stamp on the back.Penthesilea led an army of Amazons who dared to fight men and she led them to Troy in support of King Priamos during the Trojan war
