About this item
A fine 17thc English bronze mortar.... decorated with a framed stag's head, which is illustrated in Michael Finlay's book on English Decorated Bronze Mortars on page 79 illustration 127....he lists it as coming from a London "unidentified" foundry .... the mortar is in excellent condition with a good colour.
London. C1670-80. The other illustrated mortar with a "crowned rose" has now sold.
