    About this item

A very fine relief wall plaque in the style of German sculptor Fritz Diller (1875-1945) dating to approximately 1910 to 1920. It features two German Shepherds with alertly pricked ears. The background and the dogs' bodies are in bas-relief, with the heads in high-relief. The plaque is made of patinated bronze or brass and is very finely worked with lots of detail; the dog's faces are particularly sensitively worked. It is unsigned but bears all the hallmarks of pieces by Diller. The plaque is in its original ebonised wooden frame. There are two hanging loops attached to the back along with a chain, so it is ready to hang.
