This is an antique writing desk. A French, kingwood reverse breakfront decorative centre table in Louis XV revival taste with marquetry top, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Graced with exquisite marquetry and craftsmanship - a centrepiece of some distinction Displays a desirable aged patina and in very good order Kingwood stocks present superb grain interest and rich blonde hues Excellent brass ormolu mounts accentuate throughout Striking quartered marquetry decorates the top surface Tastefully composed from select kingwood, boxwood and pear inlays Shield medallion to centre with foliate bouquet of delicate flowers and leaves Scrolled leaf flourishes add further decoration Quality oak drawer boxes, with a serpentine shaped fascia Dressed with an inset brass-lined double throw lock — in working order, key present Boxwood marquetry adorns each fascia, the 360-degree finish ideal for central room placement Graceful, tall cabriole legs with ormolu accoutrements to the knee and toeThis is an exceptional antique writing desk, with a distinctive form and delightful finish of the first order.
