About this item
A rare silver and granite brooch made by Middleton Rettie and Sons of Aberdeen c. 1860. There are two types of granite in the brooch, grey granite from Rubislaw Quarry in the heart of Aberdeen and salmon pink granite from Corrennie Quarry in Aberdeenshire. Both beautifully cut into an interlinking 8 pointed star. There is a "C" clasp and a brass pin on the back. A stunning brooch and a rare find.
