    A gorgeous black striated agate and silver brooch, made in Scotland around 1870.  The brooch is in the shape of a buckle and set in silver with a clasp on the left side. The stones and silver are in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. It has a "C" clasp fitting on the back. With the advent of railway travel the Victorians came to Scotland to follow in the footsteps of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Who had bought the estate at Balmoral and spent long periods of time there. One of the most popular souvenirs during this time was Scottish agate jewellery which was favoured by Queen Victoria.
