A French late 19th century (circa 1890) oval Kingwood marquetry table en chiffonnière with three drawers - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:
This table en chiffonnière consists of an oval top with gilt brass gallery surrounding a fine marquetry floral and foliate central design of various woods with ebony and boxwood border.
This leads down to three drawers all with floral and foliate marquetry decoration with ebony and boxwood border, the drawers having decorative ormolu escutcheons and working locks and key.
To either side of the drawers is an ebony and boxwood line decoration giving the effect of a fluted appearance, the sides and back also inlaid with floral and foliate designs all with ebony and boxwood banding.
This lead down to four cabriole legs with gilt metal mounts below with a kidney shaped shelf and gilt brass gallery, this having an inlaid panel depicting an inkwell, book and quill, possibly symbolising either law or scholarly work.
This table en chiffionière is in very good condition for age, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
