This is an antique campaign bureau. An Anglo-Indian, teak and brass colonial writing desk, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Rare and unusual example of campaign furniture, with a superb finish and well appointed Displaying a desirable aged patina and in very good order throughout Solid teak shows fine grain interest and warm caramel hues Brass corners and strapping presents bright golden tones Sectioned in two, with the upper fall front over a pair of wide drawers to the base Inlaid with gilt borders, the fall front dressed with a brass lined lock — key absent Generously sized writing surface with an arcaded gallery of storage compartments Two lopers emerge from the cabinet with small brass pulls to support the fall front Fascinating central door opens to reveal a sliding tray, the sides hosting two hidden compartments Drawers arranged as a narrow pair over two of full width, dressed with brass recessed handles Each drawer appointed with an inset lock — keys absentThis is a delightfully unusual antique campaign bureau, perfect for any room and with fascinating concealed storage to the fall-front writing surface.
