A Geo Ist walnut and pine bureau bookcase C1725. Original brasses .
A curious piece as the pine sides would indicate a country made piece yet it has very high quality locks stamped with a makers mark, the fall lock is unusual as it has a brass cover plate over an iron lock, and extensive faux walnut graining. The graining is even inside the well and divisions to the fitted interior. Presumably the sides were also grained but now worn or faded away. The interior is fitted with 13 secret compartments and the backboards are oak as are the drawer linings .
