A Louis XVI–style mahogany cylinder bureau desk, French, 1860, constructed in figured mahogany with extensive ormolu mounts. The roll-top cylinder opens to a fitted writing interior with small drawers and compartments, above a configuration of drawers with gilt-bronze floral mounts and ribboned detailing. The upper surface is edged with a pierced brass gallery. Raised on tapering, fluted legs with further ormolu mounts and sabots, the desk displays balanced proportions and a warm polished patina consistent with neoclassical revival furniture.
