About this item

An impressive and large pair of carved oak/lime wood winged griffin’s from the C19th. Likely Italian in origin and influenced by the European mythology of Hvars beast a carved galley ornament from the C16th Venetian ship. They are full of detail, movement and symbolism with stepped feathered wings and bacchanalian detail on their breastplates.
